about

"General Purvis Attaboy was a notorious figure in late Victorian and Edwardian London society. Born into the landed gentry, his parents purchased a commission for him in the British Army, a post he was most unsuited for. His most notable maneuver was sending troops into the wrong country during the Boer War, causing a lasting diplomatic rift with the Kingdom of Ratwanga.

Following the Boer War the Army brass promoted Attaboy to higher ranks, keeping him as far away from actual action as possible. His wife, Deidre, befriended Emmeline Pankhurst and became an outspoken suffragette. Meantime, Attaboy entertained himself, hosting "parties" at a house he rented in St. John's Wood. His self-published memoirs of his war career were widely derided as being laughable inaccurate.

At his funeral his widow was surprised by the attendance of several women grievers who introduced themselves as "friends" of Purvis: Lilly, Georgette, Charlotte, Flo, Lizzie, Marie, Beatrice, Winnie, Tess, Polly, Rebecca, and Kattie."

"So, this is what a rave sounds like in whatever demented dimension The Purveyors of Free Will and General Gruff hail from (Victoria, BC, apparently)."
